Dimensional control/repeatability
Our manufacturing process maintains CNC like tolerances in a molding process that has opened up an opportunity for many manufacturers. Part designers can expect dimensional accuracy and repeatability of ±0.08% of any given part dimension.
With a yield strength of 1230 MPa (231 KSI), the material properties of our alloy stands over 17-4PH and 420 stainless steels. Its 232 strength to weight (MPa.cm³/g) is unmatched, even by Titanium.
Corrosion resistance
One of our material properties is a lack of grain boundaries. This allows Liquidmetal to outperform SS-316 and Titanium in the harshest environments.
Hardness & Scratch Resistance
Liquidmetal alloy as-cast has a 47 Rockwell C hardness, comparable to many hardened stainless steels.
High elastic limit
Because of its amorphous atomic structure, Liquidmetal alloys can bend up to 1.6%, and still return to its original shape. This makes amorphous metals highly attractive for applications like pressure sensors, and more.
The material properties of Liquidmetal are mildly diamagnetic, meaning not only are they non-magnetic, but they cannot become magnetic either.
Surface finish
The ability to mimic the mold cavity surface nearly exactly, allows Liquidmetal alloys to maintain a surface finish down to 2 Ra μin.
Complex shapes
The mechanical properties of Liquidmetal’s molding platform allows part designers to have the freedom of design within a standard set of typical molding guidelines.
